New Category – Window Seat Photography

On a recent flight, one of many, it occurred to me that I spend a lot of time in airplanes and traveling around. It got me thinking about new things I could add to my blogs and social media. So, in addition to the travel tips section I’m adding to my professional blog, I’m also adding a couple of new photography things as well.

First, I’m going to add a section to the photo blog for pics taken out the window of airplanes. They will generally e taken with my iPhone, and out of a window, so I don’t expect the quality to be as good, but it’s kind of fun to see the world from that angle.

Highways and byways

Secondly, I’m also going to be playing around with Snapchat stories a bit as I travel around, as a way to sort of keep people posted on where I am and what’s going on. If you want to see what I’m doing each day, you can follow me there. Be warned though, that when I’m working from home, the story may not be very interesting, if I even update it. 😉

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas

A sun-filled hotel lobby in Sydney. Holiday decorations and Summer weather were a new experience for me, but it also made me wonder how some different holiday traditions could be fueled by the seasons on the other side of the world.

I mean, New Year’s Eve on the beach? I could get behind that!

Ottawa By iPhone Photos

It wasn’t a lesson learned per se, as I would normally always have a backup, but let’s say it was a solid reminder.

Last week, I was going to Ottawa for work, and as is the norm when I’m headed somewhere new and I know I’ll have some time to wander, I wanted to bring my Nikon. On the other hand, this is a work trip so I’m already carrying a lot of technology with me, so I only really had room for the camera body and lens, not multiple lenses.

Wouldn’t you know it, somewhere along the trip, or through the long immigration search, the lens must have gotten banged a little too hard once and the internal optics were broken.

So I had to resort to documenting my time in Ottawa with my smartphone. Luckily the iPhone does a pretty decent job, even if it’s not the same as my DSLR.

Waterfalls Along The Columbia River Scenic Byway

posted in: Landscape, Smartphone 3

Took a drive just to the east of Portland yesterday to catch some of the great scenery in the Columbia River Gorge. Each of these waterfalls are actually viewable from the road, and a short walk gets you up close and personal.

I decided to try and get some iPhone video as well as photos, just for the fun of it!
