This was the first time I had seen a koala in the wild. Our guide instructed us that in parts of Australia it is absolutely illegal to handle a koala. Not because they are delicate and that handling by humans might hurt them, but because those claws will mess you up.
As he described it, those claws do not scratch, they slice things open.
